The Lake Links Association is pleased to announce the update of the two local maps of nonmotorized routes available for use with the Avenza app on iPhone and Android smartphones. These maps have been updated to show the many new safe bike-walk-roll routes around town.
Along the Lake Links trail birding hot spots as well as bike repair facilities have been added.
In Mahtomedi, new sidewalks and flashing beacon crossing along South Warner Rd. open up new safe routes to OH Anderson School and to the east side of Katherine Abbott Park. A new flashing beacon and sidewalk at the Wildridge Rd. crossing with Lincolntown make for safe access to the trails and parks there. Highway 12 now has stoplights with controlled pedestrian crossings at East Avenue and Hilton Trail plus trails on both sides so that good routes to St. Andrew's, Wildwood Library, Mahtomedi High School, Mahtomedi Middle School, and the Gateway Trail are now available.
The smartphone maps show your location in real time as you move. Once downloaded, they require only a GPS signal – no cellphone signal or wifi needed. You can zoom in and out to see varying levels of detail.
The two updated maps now available are:
1. The Lake Links Trail as of August 2024
2. Suggested good walking/biking routes on sidewalks, shared-use trails, neighborhood and park footpaths, and quiet shared streets around Mahtomedi as of October 2024.
